En mi práctica diaria como médico ginecólogo he comprobado que cultura, salud y progreso son conceptos que caminan de la mano. La salud entendida desde la prevención, es la base sobre la que debe asentarse la sociedad moderna. A menudo, me entristece atender casos desgraciados de parejas con deseos de tener hijos, que podían haberse solucionado con un correcto asesoramiento médico. Una visita al ginecólogo, cada seis meses o cada año, es suficiente para garantizar un perfecto control de la mujer. La falta de información hace que las mujeres y las parejas españolas no acudan al especialista y vivan, como auténticas tragedias, problemas para los que tenemos solución. A lo largo de estas páginas pretendemos realizar una somera introducción al mundo de las Técnicas de Reproducción Asistida. Nuestro objetivo es informar, porque el ser humano solo alcanza la libertad cuando tiene la información. Queremos tender un puente entre la mujer, la pareja, y el especialista. Y así ofrecer, a todos los que deseen, información y tratamiento científico sobre el amplio mundo de la Reproducción Asistida. Este es nuestro ánimo. ¡Ojalá lo consigamos!
In my daily practice as gynaecologist I have concluded that culture, health and progress are concepts that go hand in hand. The health reasoned from the prevention is the base on which the modern society must be settled. A visit to the gynaecologist, every six months or every year, is enough to guarantee a good control of a woman. It makes me sad to attend unfortunate cases in which couples that are longing for having children do not succeed in their hopes, situation that can be solved with an appropriate medical advice. The reason why the Spanish women and couples do not visit the specialist is the lack of information, which leads them to make a real tragedy of problems for which we could have solutions.
Throughout these pages we will try to make a shallow introduction in the field of the Assisted Reproduction Techniques. Since we can only take free decisions when having information, our aim is to inform about this matter as well as to set up a link among the woman, the couple and the specialist. And in short and thus, we try to offer everybody who is interested, information about the wide world of the Assisted Reproduction and the existing scientific treatments. This is our purpose and we wish we can fullfill it for you.
